Nordic Propane R290 Monoblock Air/Water Heat Pump
The Nordic Propane R290 air-to-water heat pump is a combination of the greenest heat pump solution and the latest technology. It is available in various sizes in terms of capacity, with more sizes on the way. The Nordic Propane R290 can be used for both private residential installations and commercial applications. When sizing for residential installations, the capacity is based on performance at an ambient temperature of -7°C. It can be used for both new builds and for replacing gas or oil boilers in existing homes.
The Nordic Propane R290 air-to-water heat pump handles both heating and hot water production in a single unit. There have been significant price increases on all well-known brands such as Panasonic, LG, Vølund, and Vaillant air-to-water heat pumps. With the upcoming introduction of propane from these major brands, prices are expected to rise even further. However, with Nordic Propane R290, we are able to maintain the same price level as traditional chemical refrigerant solutions like R32 and R410A.
What is Propane, and Why is it a Good Refrigerant?
Propane consists of three carbon atoms and is classified as a hydrocarbon, also used in bottled gas. Propane is a flammable refrigerant and is a colorless gas with a boiling point of -42.09°C. Its chemical composition and physical properties make propane the optimal refrigerant for air-to-water heat pumps. It allows for high water temperatures of up to 70°C without causing high refrigerant pressure, unlike R32 and R410A. This high temperature is a great advantage for Legionella prevention and when replacing existing gas or oil boiler systems. Water systems in older houses designed for gas or oil boilers may require higher water temperatures than R32 and R410A heat pumps can provide. R290/propane shares characteristics with R22, which was once the most commonly used refrigerant for air-to-water heat pumps. The synthetic refrigerant R22 was phased out many years ago due to its severe impact on global warming. One of the key reasons to choose propane and the Nordic Propane R290 heat pump is that the refrigerant does not contain PFAS or PFOS.
Propane refrigerant will be the only refrigerant solution in the future. Why use traditional chemical refrigerants containing PFAS and PFOS, which have very harmful effects on human health and the environment? All heat pump suppliers known in the Danish market, such as Panasonic, LG, Vølund, and Vaillant, will soon introduce propane solutions if they haven’t already. The Nordic Propane R290 private label is a propane heat pump solution at the right price. The R290 propane solution is also eligible for the same subsidies as heat pumps with other refrigerants.
The Nordic Propane R290 heat pump is only available as a monoblock solution. Due to very strict regulations related to the refrigerant, the liquid/gas must not enter the building. Therefore, split systems, which have been very popular, can no longer be used.
The Nordic Propane R290 air-to-water heat pump comes with full monitoring from the moment it is connected to the power supply.
The Nordic Propane R290 air-to-water heat pump is the greenest solution within heat pump technology, due to its refrigerant. There are no other alternatives.
The refrigerant R290 is a flammable liquid/gas, but the design of the machine, due to strict regulations, ensures safety and reliability.
For private customers, electricity prices can be reduced if the annual power consumption exceeds 4000 kWh. Therefore, it is beneficial to have both an air-to-water heat pump and an electric car. Many people considering district heating forget this. Again, this is a key reason to avoid the very expensive district heating solution. Choosing district heating binds you to a large debt, while with a heat pump, you can change electricity suppliers.
The GWP (Global Warming Potential) value for R290 or propane is 3, which is a significant reason to choose this solution. GWP is a measure of how harmful a refrigerant is to the environment. The GWP value is a crucial factor in choosing the R290 refrigerant for air-to-water heat pumps over R32 or R410A, which have a GWP value far exceeding 700.
Propane refrigerant for air-to-water heat pumps is the replacement for the old chemical refrigerants R22 and R502. As mentioned earlier, these were phased out due to their extremely harmful impact on global warming. R290 used in air-to-water heat pumps is a hydrocarbon refrigerant with the chemical formula C3H8. R290 or propane used in air-to-water heat pumps is not dangerous, even though it is both flammable and explosive. During the operation of the heat pump, the refrigerant circulates in a hermetically sealed pipe system that contains only propane. The refrigerant is only flammable and explosive when mixed with oxygen (O2) and exposed to heat or an open flame. As long as the refrigerant does not escape from the system, no dangerous situation can arise. The closed system in the heat pump is only within the machine, which is placed outside the house or building where the air-to-water heat pump will be used as a heat source. In the unlikely event of a leak in the pipe system, all the electrical components used in the machine are carefully tested to ensure that no sparks can ignite the propane. In summary, if one of the following conditions is not present, there is no risk of fire or explosion: the correct mixture of oxygen and propane, a spark, or an open flame. The amount of refrigerant in the heat pump is very small, so in the case of a leak, the propane concentration will quickly become too low for the correct mixture. Propane is also used in stoves in caravans and circulates inside the caravan. Accidents are extremely rare. Therefore, there is no greater risk of using propane in a heat pump.
We look forward to delivering your new Nordic Propane R290 air-to-water heat pump.
